MINYMA MANKURRPA — Three Women

Minyma Mankurrpa presents the work of three prominent women artists in association with Tjarlirli and Kaltukatjara Arts: Denise Brady, Mary Gibson and Mrs K Butler. Each artist draws from deep cultural knowledge, personal experience, and an enduring connection to Country to present works that are rich in storytelling, memory, and meaning.

Denise Brady, born in Alice Springs and raised between the APY Lands and Kaltukatjara, explores deeply personal and political narratives in her multimedia practice. Her work reflects on Anangu life, blending tradition with contemporary realities.

Mary Gibson, a fierce hunter and cultural leader born at Kuluwarri, paints from a lifetime lived on the land. Her works carry the knowledge and strength of a life immersed in Country, tracing the stories of rockholes, sandhills, and bush foods across the Western Desert.

Mrs K Butler, known for her commanding presence on canvas, painted with bold brushstrokes that evoke the vastness and power of her Country. Raised in the bush near Kulkurta, her works are grounded in Tjukurrpa (Dreaming) and a lived experience of Country that stretches back generations.

Together, these three women offer not only accomplished works of art, but windows into lives shaped by resilience, culture, and profound connection to land and story.
