The iconic Hermannsburg watercolour landscapes of Central Australia have been part of the Australian consciousness for almost 1OO years thanks to the enduring legacy of Albert Namatjira, Otto Pareroultja and their pioneer peers of the Hermannsburg School.
We are delighted and gratified that Hubert’s innovative career is documented in a new publication, written by his friend Ken McGregor.
Whether painting by memory or en plein air, Hubert continues the extraordinary tradition of the Hermannsburg watercolourists with a futuristic twist; his own idiosyncratic orbital landscapes and split images, showing two places at once, in addition to the more classic very finely painted dramatic paintings of Standley Chasm and the Organ Pipes.
