MAREE CLARKE AND JAMES TYLOR MY COUNTRY COUNTRY ROAD + NGV FIRST NATIONS COMMISSIONS

23.03.2024

Over the last year, eight groups of emerging Australian First Nations artists and designers have been creating their most ambitious works to date.

Paired with esteemed industry mentors, the groups represent each state and territory across Australia, all responding to the theme ‘My Country’ in their own way.

Gallery represented artists James Tylor (Kaurna Miyurna) and Maree Clarke (Yorta Yorta/Wamba Wamba/Mutti Mutti/Boonwurrung) have mentored Aidan Hartshorn (Walgalu/Wiradjuri) and Mitch Mahoney (Boonwurrung/Barkinji) respectively.

See what they’ve created in the inaugural Country Road + NGV First Nations Commissions exhibition, opening Friday 22 March, free at The Ian Potter Centre: NGV Australia, Fed Square.

Meet the artists today, 23.O3.2O24 as they share stories of making the commissions and working together, 11am – 2pm at NGV Australia.
