JAMES TYLOR RECEIVED HONOURABLE MENTION IN THE 2O25 BOWNESS PRIZE

20.09.2025

Congratulations to James Tylor who has received one of two honorable mentions for his work Tapa-arra through the landscape 1, 4, 5 in the 2O25 William & Winifred Bowness Prize at the Museum of Australian Photography (MAPh).

Tapa-arra through the landscape highlights historical Indigenous roads, songlines and trade routes across Australia. For millennia, Aboriginal people have used roads to link nations for travel, migration, trading and cultural purposes.

Judging panel Anne Zahalka, Shaune Lakin and Anouska Phizacklea (MAPh Director) considered a field of 5O finalists, naming Anna Higgins as the winner of the prize for her work Two horizons (2O25), and awarding an honourable mention to Sarah Rhodes for her work Chamber of projection I (2O25). We congratulate Anna, James and Sarah, as well as the other finalists.
