We acknowledge the passing of Mrs K Butler, who has come to mean so much to us.
We remember fondly her first trip to Melbourne to receive the award for the Inaugural Wyndham Art Prize in 2O15, and her visits to the gallery for her solo and collaborative exhibitions, with her friend and peer the late Nyarapayi Giles.
We are so honoured to have had the opportunity to not only know her, but share her exceptional, unique vision with the world.
Mrs K Butler’s sense of colour and her bold mark making is unifying, and it is wonderful that she was recognised by the Western Australian Government as a Cultural Treasure in her lifetime.
Our thoughts continue to be her family and close friends and to the community at Tjarlirli and Kaltukatjara Art centre.
