Cairns Art Gallery is holding a joint celebration opening event for four significant solo exhibitions by Queensland-based Indigenous artists on Wednesday 24.O7.2O24, including Janet Fieldhouse’s Material Culture, Naomi Hobson’s Life on the River, Tommy Pau’s Ilan Oman and Ryan Presley’s Mongrel.
The exhibitions will be officially opened by Cairns Art Gallery Director, Andrea May Churcher, and Tina Baum, Senior Curator, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art, National Gallery of Australia.
An artist talk event will be held the following day, Thursday 25.O7.2O24 from 1O.3O – 11.3Oam, with the four artists providing insight into their arts practices and these latest solo exhibitions.

This week also marks the beginning of Cairns Indigenous Art Fair, and will feature gallery-represented artist Clare Jaque Vasquez with Umbrella Studios, as well as Erica Muriata with Girringun Aboriginal Art Centre.
