The Country Road + NGV First Nations Commissions exhibition, My Country, concludes this weekend. This year, the biennial mentorship and exhibition program paired eight groups of emerging Australian First Nations artists and designers with esteemed industry mentors from across each state and territory.
Gallery-represented artists James Tylor (Kaurna Miyurna) and Maree Clarke (Yorta Yorta/Wamba Wamba/Mutti Mutti/Boonwurrung) mentored Aidan Hartshorn (Walgalu/Wiradjuri) and Mitch Mahoney (Boonwurrung/Barkinji) respectively, guiding the two emerging artists to create their most ambitious works to date as part of the major My Country exhibition displayed this year at The Ian Potter Centre: NGV Australia.
